From Bhutan to Chelsea
Fresh from her landmark museum exhibition Echoes of a Kingdom in Bhutan at Wangduechhoeling Palace Museum—Tatjana Krizmanic brings her luminous vision to New York.
Inspired by the Neapolitan custom of caffè sospeso—paying for a coffee in advance for a stranger—this new body of work translates quiet acts of kindness into color, gesture, and light. Through intimate still lifes, park scenes, and expressive portraits, Caffè Sospeso celebrates generosity, reflection, and joy as forms of grace in a divided world.
The paintings open onto a spectrum of human experience, bound not by subject matter but by sensibility—a way of seeing that embraces beauty not as escape but as a form of shared humanity.
Born in Croatia and based in Brooklyn, Krizmanic has exhibited internationally for over four decades. Her paintings, known for their emotional resonance and radiant palette, are held in collections across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
